Switching It Up

In the past I have written about switching out different lenses to give yourself new perspectives and jump start your creativity, but this week I had to change my camera body. I have been using my Canon 60D camera, which is a cropped sensor lens, because my Canon 6D stopped working while I was out on a walk last week. It is being repaired, but I won't get it back for at least the next five days, so I decided to see what I could do with my Lensbaby lenses on my back-up camera body. It was a fun experiment!

I first tried out my Lensbaby Sweet 35 mm lens, but because my 60D is a crop sensor camera, it meant that the focal length was actually 56mm. It was interesting and challenging at the same time.

Because of the expanded focal length, I was able to get up closer and focus in on the subject. I still got the blur when I was shooting wide open, but the composition was tighter.

I then tried my Velvet 56 mm lens, which expanded to almost 90mm. This made it even easier to get up close to the flower.

Because it was a tighter focus, I had to step back to get more of the subject in the frame.

I loved seeing things through this new focal length and playing with a softer focus (f2.8).

As always, I enjoyed capturing images of the tulips that I saw along my walk.

But I loved capturing some environmental shots, such as this table outside of a cupcake place.

Although I have been having fun experimenting with my Canon 60D, I am looking forward to getting my full frame camera back next week. In the interim, I am enjoying the benefits of switching out my camera bodies.

I love hearing from you, so comment below, post on Camera Walking's Facebook page, or send me an email.
