Embracing the Morning Fog

For the last few days it has been cold and foggy in Seattle. I live on top of a hill, so that means that the fog is thick and the streets are slick. Although it didn't look like a good day to take photos, I went out with my Lensbaby Velvet 56 lens to see what I could find.

I stayed on the sidewalks and when I encountered slick spots I remembered to "walk like a penguin," which kept me upright.

One benefit of the fog was being able to capture the rich colors of the foliage.

The moisture from the fog also helped me capture this spider web, which I often have trouble doing.

And then there was the dancing tree that I see along my walk. I loved it when it was full of autumn leaves, but I thought the fog made it even more mysterious.

There weren't many people out while I made my way around the hill, but that added to the mood.

The fog proved to be a nice filter enhancing the colors. I took this image below at f2.8 giving it more of a glow. It is the glow that makes the Velvet lenses so wonderful.

By the time I was close to home the neighborhood emerged from the fog and was greeted by the sun.

Although I couldn't capture any views of the city or the water through the fog, I still found that there were wonderful finds. I was once again reminded that regardless of the weather you can always capture interesting images. I love to hear from you, so comment below, post on Camera Walking's Facebook page, or send me an email.
