Along the Waterfront

Today a friend and I went for a walk along Alki Beach, the birthplace of Seattle, in West Seattle. It has been years since I had been there, so I was excited to experience it again. I thought about taking my zoom lens, but decided to take my Lensbaby Sweet 50 with me to see what kind of images I could capture.

The weather was good - no rain - but the wind kept the waves and clouds moving. It was fun capturing the detail of the waves with downtown in the blurry distance.

Seals often hang out on this beach, so there are plenty of signs telling people to not handle the seal pups. I found this art piece and thought the Sweet 50 captured it well.

We also have our own mini statue of liberty. I love the blur around the statue with just a bit of focus.

I tried capturing some photos of the ferries that crisscross Puget Sound all day. It is a very busy route.

We loved looking at the colors. This tree was bursting with orange and red.

And of course we have palm trees. Not something you would expect in Seattle.

Whenever I am around water I instantly relax. This seagull seemed pretty relaxed as well. It took me a bit to focus the image and the gull seemed willing to wait.

This piece of driftwood made a good subject as well.

As we walked toward the city, we were treated with a beautiful view.

There were times that I pulled out my iPhone to capture an image because I wanted an image in more detail, but overall I was pleased with the photos I got with my Lensbaby Sweet 50. I look forward to exploring more places with this lens. I hope you had a chance to get out Camera Walking this weekend.
