So Many Photos...2.0

Several years ago Michelle wrote a post on organizing old photos. As a result, I decided that I should go through my family's archive of photos. Alas, it is three years later and I haven't made a dent in my photos until recently.

In preparing for a work project I needed to scan an old photo. Our scanner at work didn't do a great job, so I tried mine at home. It was okay, but I wasn't happy with its resolution, so I searched for apps and found Photomyne. They have a free "lite" version and a paid app for Android and iOS, which costs only $4.99. Take a few moments and watch the video to see all of its features.

I started scanning some photos from 1942 when my parents were married. This photo was not in great shape but after a little touch-up in Photoshop, it is not bad.

Here is another one that was taken in 1947 while my mom was expecting me. It is not the best photo, but they look so happy.

And I found this one of my dad with a couple of friends taken some time in the 1930's I think. He is the one in the back.

Again with a little work in Photoshop I was able to repair the damages to this photo that I found from when we were camping. I guess this is proof that I can catch a fish when I want to.

One of the things that I like about Photomyne is that you can create albums, add dates, locations, names, and write stories about the events. You can create and export the albums from your app, and share your photos on social media. For $19.95 a year they offer back-up storage for your photos. I am going to consider this so that the photos I archive are not stored on my phone. This can save some space if you don't have much memory available on your phone.

This photo was taken when we lived in Renton, Washington. I was a real cowgirl with a purse! Since most of my photos need work, I went to CreativeLive and found a very inexpensive course ($29) on how to restore photos in Photoshop. Take a moment and watch the introduction video. It seems like a worthwhile investment to me.

With this new app it is not only fun but easy to go back to the family archive and retrieve images from the past. I look forward to creating albums of my family and childhood and getting them organized to share with others. We love to hear from you, so comment below, post on our Facebook page, or send us an email.
