Island Walking

I do most of my Camera Walking in urban places, so it was a nice getaway to go to Whidbey Island on this holiday weekend to rest and take in the beautiful scenery. The weather was not very cooperative at first, but we were rewarded with a rainbow one evening.

The trip started with a short ferry ride to the island. The moment I am on water I begin to relax. Once on the island, I love walking along the shoreline. Hearing the waves lap along the shore, the birds calling, and feeling the cool breeze are all part of a perfect recipe for me to unwind.

One of the things about island walking is coming across various wildlife. I am used to all kinds of birds in the city, but seeing a rabbit on Easter weekend and deer was a treat.

I enjoy the contrast in scenery - the waterfront and the wildlife marsh just across the road.

And a few steps away you can walk through a wooded area.

I also looked for flowers to capture. They are just beginning to emerge after a long rainy winter. I took this tulip image with my Tamron 28-300mm lens. It allowed me to get up close and focus.

Although it was windy, I was able to get a good shot of these lovely bleeding heart flowers.

And I experimented with my Lensbaby Composer Pro Sweet 50 with a macro extender tube. I need to practice as there is a very little "sweet spot" of focus. I think it will be fun trying this lens out when more flowers bloom.

All and all it was a very relaxing few days, and I felt that my senses were renewed by the change of scenery. I hope you all had a good weekend and were able to capture some fun shots. We love to hear from you, so comment below, post on our Facebook page, or send us an email. Happy Camera Walking!
