Step into Spring
Spring is the time of year when flowers blossom and days get longer making it a good time to jump start your walking routine. We know that walking is a good way to get exercise, but the most important thing is to make sure it is enjoyable. Taking my camera with me transforms an ordinary walk into an exploration. And spring means capturing flower shots!
Lately we have had a lot of rain and this weekend there was a major wind storm, so taking photos of flowers was challenging. I have a new lens, a Lensbaby Composor Pro Sweet 50 mm, which is a great flower lens, but it was too windy to use it for that, so I decided to see what else I could find. I needed the practice anyway, so I walked around the neighborhood looking for other subjects.
The P-Patch on top of the hill is still waiting for flowers to bloom, but I found this wind chime. This lens has a "sweet spot" of focus with blur surrounding it. With a slight tilt of the lens I was able to capture this little piece of hope below that someone left by the road.
As I walked by restaurants and businesses, I saw other shots that I liked. These colored pencils brightened my walk.
I love how this lens makes these images dreamy, and, from my point of view, more interesting.
This sushi place is ready for customers. Although the focus in on the white plate, the whole blurred image tells a story.
I enjoy capturing images through windows, and these old newspapers caught my eye.
And on the home stretch of my walk, this motorcycle, surrounded by cherry blossoms, drew me in. It tells a different story with the limited focus and blur.
Finally, I loved this shot of one of our friendly lions gracing the front of our building guarding rocks. It made me smile.
