Weekend Work and Play
This past weekend Michelle and I got together in Olympia, Washington, Michelle's home, to work on Camera Walking. In spite of her great view, we got a lot done. Really!

In addition to being productive, I decided to take the opportunity to play with one of my new lenses, the Daguerreotype Achromat 64 mm lens that I have written about in an earlier blog post. Not only did I have a chance to use it on our walk, I experimented with it taking some creative shots. The photo below was taken using the Waterhouse aperture system's Lumiere f/4.8 plate that blurs the background and converts lights into stars!

It was fun taking photos of Barley, Michelle's dog, although it wasn't always easy to get him to stay still while I was trying to capture his photo. This lens is great for portraits. The background is blurred and there is a nice softness to the photo.

One day we took a walk around Tumwater Falls Park. The falls and the river were raging from all of our rain and snow. The water isn't very pretty, but it was interesting using the Achromat to take landscape shots.

I think that the lens did a pretty good job capturing the mood along the river, and I liked using the manual focus.

At the end of the day, Michelle and I had a great time, and now I am even more motivated to take my Achromat 64 mm lens out on walks. Not only is it great for portraits, it can also be used to take interesting shots outdoors. The photo of Michelle below was taken wide open not using any f stop plates, so it is a dreamy capture.
