Eagles, Cranes, and Boats…

The beauty of the Pacific Northwest can be captured at all times of the day...but getting up early for a walk at low tide on Hood Canal enables photographers to catch some incredible shots.

Laurel Arwine, a CameraWalking member, and I headed out on the out-going tide to walk the beach and capture some wonderful photos of eagles and cranes. We have combined our efforts to share some our photographs of this amazing place!

The peace in Seabeck Bay was lovely with the boats silently at anchor while the cranes began their day of fishing.

Tides often catch sailboats in shallow water. Laurel caught this shot to share the sad state of affairs for the boat owner. Don't worry, in a few hours, it will be floating and they can sail away...

Our destination for photographing the eagles is just down the road from Seabeck Bay …

There were so many eagles at Big Beef Creek in Kitsap County, Washington creating a dramatic and majestic show. They feed at the low tides...and spend their days in the branches of the tall evergreen trees, watching over their world.

Each shot added to the drama of the morning...

The cranes move so slowly and can stand for hours to find just the tasty morsel.

As an eagle lands, the cranes take flight...

The small community of Seabeck is a great place to stop for a coffee after enjoying a fantastic photo shoot.

Turie’s Seabeck Espresso makes an excellent Latte and enjoying a chat with some of the local folks is great! We really encourage you to take a trip "out the Canal" on a good low tide to discover this treasured area.

Camera Walking early can give your day a peaceful start... before you move into the hectic hours ahead. What a joy to see nature awakening!
